This Cookies Policy sets out the basis on which The Riot Within uses cookies and similar technologies on www.theriotwithin.com.

Effective date: 22 May 2026.

COOKIES USED ON THE WEBSITE

The Riot Within uses both essential and non-essential cookies. Some are set by the website itself; others are set by third parties including Google, Facebook and Instagram.

Essential Cookies

Strictly necessary for the website to operate or to provide services you have requested. Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — ensuring the site functions properly and providing requested online services.

You can block all cookies, including essential ones, via browser settings, but parts of the website may not work or display properly as a result.

Non-Essential Cookies

Three types are used:

  1. Functional Cookies: these enhance website functionality. They either serve non-essential purposes or serve essential purposes alongside non-essential ones. Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)), subject to your consent. Purpose: improving website experience, providing requested functionality, and analysing user information.

  2. Analytical (Performance) Cookies: these track and gather data about what users do on the website. The Riot Within uses Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors engage with the site — including how they arrived, which pages they visited, how long they stayed, what they clicked on, and their approximate location (based on IP address). Data is collected on an anonymised basis. Google Analytics cookies are classified as first party cookies, though Google collects and processes the underlying data. Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Purpose: analysing usage to improve the website and business.

  1. Third Party Cookies Used by third parties to analyse your use of the website and/or to display advertisements (including third party advertisements). Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).

OTHER TECHNOLOGIES

Web Beacons

Web beacons are small GIF image files embedded in marketing emails and certain website pages. They are activated when you open a marketing email or access a page containing one. They track: receipt of marketing emails, how often you view adverts or pages, your location, IP address, and browser information. They transmit data when viewed but cannot access other information on your device, and are not stored on your hard drive unless you download an image containing one.

Some browsers allow you to restrict web beacons by blocking cookies/trackers or disabling image display in emails.

Legal basis: legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Purpose: analysing the effectiveness of email marketing campaigns.

HOW TO ACCEPT OR REJECT COOKIES

Blocking cookies may impair website functionality or render parts of it unusable. Clearing all cookies will also delete stored preferences, including any cookie consent records.

Change your browser settings

Some browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox) support 'incognito' mode, which limits data stored on your device and automatically deletes persistent cookies when you end your session. Third party browser extensions are also available for managing or blocking cookies.
